ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- Tusculum senior Katie Tomassoni posted a two-day score of 73-77=150 to finish tied for ninth place at the 2019 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate Tuesday at The Golf Club at South Hampton.
The Pioneers finished 10th in the team competition with a 36-hole total 641 including a final round 327 on Tuesday.
Lynn University led wire-to-wire as the Fighting Knights followed yesterday's 298 with a final round 296 to posted 594 and win by 20 strokes over Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial, who each shot 614 to finish runner-up. Newberry was fourth with 617, followed by Wingate (622), Coker (631), North Greenville (632), Belmont Abbey (633), Queens (633), Tusculum (641), Barton (652) and Southern Wesleyan (670).
Lynn's Helen Kreuzer captured the tournament medal by posting back-to-back rounds of 71 to shoot 142 (-2) and win by one stroke over runner-up Lise Malherbe of Lincoln Memorial (72-71=143).
Tomassoni accounted for her third top-10 finish of the season and 20th of her storied career. Tusculum freshman Olivia Cunningham tied for 12th place with her two-day score of 73-78=151. Julia Johansson finished 41st with 81-84=165, while Jacque Butler and Lauryn Munn tied for 55th place with two-round totals of 176.
The Pioneers return to action Feb. 25-26 as they compete at the Hilton Head Invitational.
