McMillen moves into top five in steeplechase at Dr. Keeler Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- Tusculum University senior Nicole McMillen vaulted into the top five in the NCAA Division II rankings in the women's steeplechase following her fourth-place finish Friday night at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central College.

McMillen ran 10:25.37 to shave nearly 25 seconds off her previous season-best time of 10:49.93 set at the South Atlantic Conference Championship. McMillen, who finished second among all collegiate runners in the event, climbed into fifth on the Division II performance list following her effort.

On Thursday night, sophomore Will Cronin took third place in the men's 10000 meters with a time of 30:45.29. His time was 32 seconds faster than his time of 31:17.77 set at the SAC Championship, but was 2 1/2 seconds shy of the national qualifying time of 30:42.74.

Freshman Kyler Hodges competed in the men's steeplechase and was 44th overall in a time of 9:54.54. Also on Friday, sophomore Yoland Boyce ran in the women's 800 meters and was 64th overall in 2:28.41.

On Thursday, several members of the Tusculum men's track & field team competed at the Montreat Last Chance Twilight meet. Junior Guillaume Devries won the high jump at 2.07 meters (6 feet, 9 1/2 inches), just below his season-best mark of 2.08 meters set at the Gamecock Invitational on April 13.

Sophomore Kedar Ashford set a pair of season bests as he finished second in the 100 meters at 10.66 seconds and third in the 200 meters at 21.67 seconds. Freshman Gerard Hearst equaled his season best in the 100 meters, running 10.94 seconds.

Declaration of entries for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be made Monday, May 13 and the championship fields will be announced at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14. The NCAA Division II meet will be held Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25 at Texas A&M Kingsville.
