Women's 4x400 relay takes first place at Gamecock Inaugural

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's indoor track & field teams continued their schedule Friday with competition at the Gamecock Inaugural, hosted by the University of South Carolina.

Tusculum will conclude action at the meet on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the South Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex.

WOMEN
Tusculum's 4x400-meter relay team of Raygene Minus, Ke'Lah McMiller, I'Keriah Day and Kesia Griffith finished first and set a new school record with a time of 3:59.79. Minus gave the Pioneers the lead with a 58.06 leadoff leg, and the Pioneers carried the advantage all the way to a 1.61-second win over runner-up Southern Wesleyan. The Pioneers' B relay team of Hailey Cole, Brianna Oats, Earthaiza Watkins and Brittany Bowery teamed up to finish sixth overall in 4:14.11.

Nicole McMillen finished third overall in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:03.99, shattering her own school record of 11:08.60 set last year at the Liberty Kickoff. McMillen's time also moved her into second place on the South Atlantic Conference all-time performance list in the event.

Minus also set a school record in the 400 meters, finishing eighth overall with a time of 58.34 seconds which puts her in second place on this year's SAC performance list. Day had a season-best time of 1:02.55 and finished in 26th overall in the event, while McMiller (1:03.11) and Cole (1:03.15) moved into fourth and fifth place, respectively, on the program all-time performance list in the 400.

Alissa Furches set a personal best in the mile, finishing 19th overall in 5:27.74 which vaulted her into third place on the SAC performance list currently led by McMillen. Oats also had a season-best performance in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 10th in the field at 9.60 seconds to take over fifth place in the SAC in the event.

In field events, Alyssa Farmer set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 11.41 meters (37 feet, 5 1/4 inches), placing her eighth overall in the field and boosting her into seventh place on the SAC leader board. Dynah Dunn was 14th overall in the shot with a season-best toss of 10.79 meters (35 feet, 4 3/4 inches).

Oats was 12th overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.91 meters (16 feet, 1 1/2 inches) followed by Destini Wilson in 24th place at 4.75 meters (15 feet, 7 inches).

MEN
Kedar Ashford finished eighth overall in the open 60 meters with a time of 7.03 seconds, putting him in second place behind Guervil on the school's performance list in the event. Gibran Williams was 18th overall at 7.09 seconds, followed by Gerard Hearst in 19th place at 7.10 seconds.

In the mile, T.J. Tupps ran 4:42.82 which is third-best in program history and put him 41st overall in the final standings. Kyle Stanley recorded a season-best time of 52.73 seconds in the 400 meters, with teammates Tyree Hilliard (52.75) and Malek Folston (52.95) finishing immediately behind Stanley in the final standings.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Folston, Isaac Hybarger, Jaydon Johnson and Luis Morris placed eighth overall with a time of 3:36.56.
