DALLAS, Texas --- Tusculum University outfielder Morgan Mahaffey has been named to the Google Cloud NCAA Division II Softball Academic All-America® second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  She becomes the first TU softball Academic All-American® in program history.

Mahaffey, a native outfielder from Belmont, North Carolina, posted a 4.00 cumulative grade point average and was the recipient of the Tusculum Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award for a third time in her career, becoming only the fifth TU student-athlete to graduate with a perfect GPA.

The two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection played in 31 games in the outfield in 2019 and 170 for her career where she totaled 63 runs, 72 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, one home run, 42 runs batted in, 42 walks and 18 stolen bases.  She accounted for only two outfield errors in her career and tallied six outfield assists.

Tusculum ended the season with a 22-20 overall record.
