SUMTER, S.C. --- Tusculum University moved three singles players into the third round of the ITA Division II Southeast Regional Friday at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

In singles, Rhodri Atkinson, Frank Bonacia and Kenta Kondou all advanced to the round of 32 with victories in their opening matches. Atkinson cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Merlin Bellett of Converse, Bonacia defeated Justin Welz of Columbus State 6-1, 6-3 and Kondou claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Masumi Komada of Georgia College.

Robin Eldin also earned a win in the round of 128 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ids Waterbolk of Carson-Newman before falling to Jagger Ong-Patzwald of Flagler 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) in the round of 64. Eldin will compete in the consolation bracket on Saturday along with Nemanja Subanovic, who lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to Nelson Stafford of Belmont Abbey in the round of 128.

In doubles, Eldin and Kondou claimed an 8-4 victory in the round of 64 over the Mars Hill duo of Faris Hadzisadikovic and Jose Roa. They will play in the round of 32 Saturday morning along with the Tusculum teams of Bonacia and Marco Jalalian along with Atkinson and Subanovic, who both received first-round byes.

Atkinson, Bonacia and Kondou will all play Round of 32 singles matches on Saturday afternoon, looking to advance to Sunday's round of 16. The quarterfinals will be held Sunday afternoon, with the singles semifinals and finals set for Monday.
