Andabak, Peiro named to Academic All-District men's soccer team

AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University's Ivan Andabak and Pau Peiro have been named to the 2018 Google Cloud NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Academic All-District 3 first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Andabak and Peiro advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot which will be announced in December.  The Academic All-District 3 Team is selected by members of CoSIDA representing colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference.

Andabak, a senior midfielder from Solin, Croatia, has a 3.93 cumulative grade point average while majoring in business management and administration.  He is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum President's List, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Last weekend, Andabak was named the 2018 recipient of the South Atlantic Conference Elite 20 Award.

Andabak has played in 11 matches this year with three starts where he has totaled two goals and an assist for his five points.  He scored the match-winning goal with 57 seconds remaining in TU's 2-1 come-from-behind win at Lee University.  He added an insurance goal in Tusculum's 2-0 home win over Newberry College.  He has appeared in 40 career matches with 24 starts where he has accumulative five goals and two assists for his 12 career points.

Peiro, junior defender from Miramar, Spain, boasts a 3.86 GPA while majoring in chemistry.  He is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum President's List, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Peiro has started in 18 matches this season with four assists.  He has played in 49 career outings with 48 starts and has amassed five assists for the Pioneers.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

The Pioneers (12-6-1) have rattled off a 10-1-1 record in its last 12 matches including six in a row to capture the program's league-leading seventh SAC Tournament Championship.  TU is the No. 4 seed in this weekend's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and will face fifth-seeded Queens University of Charlotte on Friday at 7 p.m. in Young Harris, Georgia.  The winner of that match will face national top-ranked Young Harris College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
