ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University goalkeeper Alejandro Quiriti has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week announced league officials Wednesday.
Quiriti, a 6-1, 165-pound junior from Mar del Plata, Argentina, recorded a pair of shutouts to open the season this past weekend. He tallied four saves in Tusculum's 1-0 win over Emmanuel (Ga.) College last Friday. He followed with four more saves in TU's 3-0 win over King (Tenn.) University on Sunday. In the King victory, recorded a save on a second half penalty kick and made another acrobatic stop on the ensuing rebound.
The Pioneers (2-0-0) will face two nationally-ranked programs this week. TU will host No. 5 Young Harris College tonight (Wednesday) and will travel to 10th-ranked Lander University on Saturday.
