Pioneers in 16th place at Tennessee River Rumble

LOUDON, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team shot a first day score of 315 which puts the Pioneers in 16th place at the 2019 Tennessee River Rumble Intercollegiate.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being hosted by Lincoln Memorial University and is being held at the par-72, 7,018-yard Wind River Golf Course.

Host LMU leads the tournament with a team scored of 293 and has a three-stroke advantage over Carson-Newman and Young Harris who each posted 296.  King University and Queens University of Charlotte are tied for fourth place with 298, while Wingate and North Georgia are deadlocked in sixth with 302. 

West Georgia is eighth with 303, followed by Southern Wesleyan (305), Northwestern Ohio (306), North Greenville (307), Barton (307), Belmont Abbey (309), Coker (309), Lenoir-Rhyne (313), Tusculum (315), Catawba (316), Mars Hill (316), LMU B (318) and Bryan College (337).

Tusculum's Jeffery Perez carded a team-best round of 76 and is tied for 30th place.  Liam Sweeney posted a 77 and is tied for 46th place, while Kyle Engelbert shot 79 and is 64thMatt DiBella tallied an 83 and is tied for 97th while Noah Jones shot 85 and is in 104th place.

Carson-Newman's Jake Headrick and LMU's Harry Boyle both posted three-under par rounds of 69 and are tied for first place.

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
