NORMAN, Okla. --- Tusculum University's Brandon Alexander has been named to the 2017-2018 NCAA Division II Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Men's Golf Team.
One-hundred-and-twenty-six (126) Division II golfers in the country have been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Alexander graduated from Tusculum this past spring with a GPA of 3.75 while majoring in sports science.
The Fallston, North Carolina native finished third on the team with his 76.8 stroke average as he qualified for all 10 events this past year. He recorded three top-20 finishes including his season-best fifth place showing at the Tusculum Invitational as he carded a 54-hole total 219 including an even-par 71 in the second round.
Alexander tied for 12th place at the Bob Dibble Classic with a three-over par total of 73-72=145. He finished 18th at the Richard Rendleman Invitational and 25th at the NCAA Division I dominant Cape Fear National Intercollegiate.
Alexander was a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.
