Donaldson tabbed TSWA Men's Basketball Player of the Week

NASHVILLE --- Tusculum University guard Donovan Donaldson has been named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association College Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games from January 14-20.

Donaldson averaged 24.5 points and 10 rebounds per game, and shot 52.6 percent from three-point territory (10-of-19) as the Pioneers posted a perfect 2-0 record in South Atlantic Conference play.  He recorded a career-high 32 points in Tusculum's 80-77 overtime win at Wingate on Saturday.  The Nashville, Tenn. product went 13-of-23 from the field including a career-best six 3-pointers (on 12 attempts).  He scored 24 points after halftime and knocked down the final points of the game as TU won at Wingate for the first time since 2011.

He opened the week with a double-double of 17 points and a career-best 17 rebounds in the Pioneers' 63-49 victory over arch-rival Carson-Newman on Jan. 16.  The 17 rebounds are tied for the seventh-most in TU history as he tallied his second double-double of the season.

Donaldson is averaging a team-best 15.4 points per game (12th in SAC) and is second in the league shooting 46.4 percent from three-point territory.

He becomes the first Tusculum men's basketball student-athlete to garner TSWA Player of the Week honors since Mason Fox in 2015.

Tusculum (9-9, 5-5 SAC), winners of five of its last six games, hosts Catawba College on Saturday for a 4 p.m. SAC contest at Pioneer Arena.  The Catawba Indians defeated TU 83-79 in Salisbury, North Carolina earlier this season.
