Ford named NCBWA Region Player of the Week

WINGATE, N.C. --- Tusculum University third baseman Bryson Ford has been named the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Player of the Week as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Ford, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, led the Pioneers to a 3-0 record for games from Feb. 18-24, while collecting multiple hits in each of the three games.  He batted .636 for the week with nine RBI and scored four runs while collecting two doubles and a triple.  He also stole three bases and posted a .692 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

He went 3-for-5 with two RBI in TU's 6-5 road win at Lander University last Monday.  On Sunday, he went 4-for-6 with seven RBI in the Pioneers' doubleheader sweep over Goldey-Beacom College.  He was also named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week and the Zaxby's Male Athlete of the Week.

The Pioneers (11-7, 0-0 SAC) will open its 20th South Atlantic Conference season when they travel to Wingate University for a three-game weekend series beginning with Friday's opener at 6 p.m.  TU is riding a 10-game winning streak, which is the 10th longest in program history.
