
CONWAY, S.C. --- The Coastal Carolina University women's beach volleyball team posted a pair of 5-0 wins over visiting Tusculum University Friday afternoon at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.
The Chanticleers improve to 10-5 on the season while the Pioneers fall to 3-6 on the year.
Tusculum returns to action on Saturday and Sunday as they compete at the UNCW Dig & Dive Beach Classic in Wilmington, North Carolina. TU will face Morehead State (8:30 a.m.) and Carson-Newman (2:30 p.m.) on Saturday before closing out with UNC Wilmington (10:30 a.m.) and Florida Gulf Coast (12:30 p.m.) on Sunday.
In the first match of the day, Coastal won in straight sets in four of the five tandems. The TU No. 1 pairing of Melissa Mazur and Haley Davis won the first set 21-19. But CCU's top duo of Sydney Alvis and Leah Hardeman bounced back with a 25-23 win in the second and a 15-11 in the deciding frame.
The two teams went to battle for a second time of the day as the Chants captured all five points in straight sets as CCU has won three of its last four contests.
