Beason honored as SAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University sophomore Jackson Beason has been selected the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Oct. 21, the SAC office announced Tuesday.

Beason was the individual champion at the Lenoir-Rhyne Classic on Friday, covering the 8-kilometer course in 25:22.22. His time was the fourth-fastest in program history and gave Beason his first career race win. Tusculum finished second in the team standings.

The Maryville, Tennessee product has finished in the top 20 three times this season, and has cut more than a minute off his best 8K time from a year ago. His performances helped the Pioneers earn a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Southeast Region ranking for the first time in program history earlier this season.

The Pioneers are preparing for the SAC Cross Country Championship meet, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at Spartanburg, South Carolina.
