Cronin, Furches sweep SAC Runner of the Week honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University's Will Cronin and Alissa Furches have been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week announced league officials Tuesday.

Cronin, a sophomore from Greeneville, Tennessee, posted a winning time of 16:34.1 and led the Pioneers to a first place finish at the Zaxby's Open last week. Cronin's victory is the first for a Tusculum runner since 2012, while the team win is the ninth meet championship in program history.

Furches, a junior from Greeneville, earned a sixth place finish at the Zaxby's Open last Friday. She posted a time of 21:17.3, while helping lead the Pioneers to a sixth place finish as a team.  She has been TU's top runner in every meet during her Pioneer career.

AstroTurf is an official corporate partner of the South Atlantic Conference and title sponsor of the Conference's Player of the Week awards program.

Tusculum returns to action this Thursday as they compete at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational in Newton, North Carolina.  The meet was originally scheduled for Friday afternoon, but was moved up 24 hours due to the threat of inclement weather from Hurricane Florence.
