Cronin, Furches named Zaxby's Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University cross country runners Will Cronin and Alissa Furches have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.

Cronin captured first place honors at last Friday's Zaxby's Open, hosted by Tusculum at the Holston Home for Children Cross Country Course.  The individual win sparked the Pioneers to a team title as well.

The Greeneville, Tennessee sophomore posted a winning time of 16:34.1 on the 5K course, seven seconds ahead of teammate and runner-up Kyler Hodges.  His time was also a 22-second improvement from his showing at last year's home meet.

Furches, a junior from Greeneville, posted a sixth place finish and was the Pioneers' top-finisher in a seventh consecutive meet.  The 2017 All-South Atlantic Conference runner finished with a time of 21:17.3 as Tusculum accounted for a sixth place team showing.

The Tusculum University Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Zaxby's, located at 3280 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville.  The Zaxby's Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
