Thornton Honored as SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior middle blocker Tatum Thornton has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending November 17, the conference office announced today.

The native of Ovilla, Texas crushed 18 kills on a .351 hitting percentage and added 10 total blocks as the Pioneers went 2-0 on the weekend, sweeping Anderson and dominating Newberry.

Tusculum downed the Trojans for the first time since 2015 and blanked them for the first time in six seasons.

On her Senior Day against the Wolves, Thornton recorded 12 kills, one off of her career-high, on a .455 clip and a career-high four solo blocks, alongside a block assist.

Thornton is the first Pioneer women's volleyball player to win the award this season.
