AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University setter Alyssa Rojas has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud NCAA Division II Academic All-District Volleyball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
By being named to the first team, Rojas advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with the winners being announced in December.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District 3 football team is selected from nominees representing all colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas.
Rojas, a junior from Leesburg, Florida, boasts a 3.94 cumulative grade point average while majoring in biology and pre-medicine. She is a member of the President's List, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
The Broward College transfer played in 21 matches last season as she led the Pioneers averaging 8.68 assists and 2.62 digs per set. She accounted for 10 double-doubles including a career-high 56 and 10 digs at Newberry. She tallied 50 or more assists in three straight wins against Newberry (50), Carson-Newman (51) and Lenoir-Rhyne (50). She recorded a season-best 19 digs in that road win at Carson-Newman while also tallying five kills and a .385 hitting percentage.
She finished the year totaling 677 assists, 204 digs, 23 kills and 13 service aces. For her two Tusculum seasons, she has posted 697 assists with 409 digs in her 44 career matches (160 total sets).
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
