LMU sweeps Pioneers in SAC volleyball

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Rylee Storms recorded 14 kills, 10 digs and three service aces to lead the Lincoln Memorial University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 South Atlantic Conference sweep over host Tusculum University Tuesday night at Pioneer Arena.

The Railsplitters (13-6, 9-4 SAC) won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-22 to complete the season sweep over the Pioneers (3-15, 1-11 SAC).

Storms also contributed three blocks and finished with a .306 hitting percentage.  Teammate Tone Gill added 10 kills and a match-high .533 attack percentage.

Tusculum duo of Aubrey Hawkins and Gabby Gray tallied eight kills each, while Carli Pigza tallied seven kills and a match-high six blocks (2 solos, 4 assists).  TU setter Alyssa Rojas added 29 assists and seven digs while senior libero Melissa Mazur led all players with her 18 digs.

LMU had four players finish with double-figure digs as the Railsplitters totaled 67 as a team on the night led by the duo of Erica Whiteaker and Lindsey Nartker who posted 15 digs each.

The Railsplitters finished the evening with a .198 hitting percentage thanks to 41 kills in 116 total attempts with 18 errors.  TU hit .097 with 32 kills, 19 errors in 134 total attempts.  The Pioneers tallied eight team blocks while LMU finished with five.

Tusculum continues its three-match home-stand this Friday when they host defending league champion Anderson University for a 7 p.m. match.
