Tusculum opens home-stand with SAC loss to Eagles

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Megan Oldenburger recorded 10 kills and 12 digs to lead the Carson-Newman women's volleyball team to a 3-0 South Atlantic Conference over host Tusculum Tuesday night at Pioneer Arena.

The Eagles (8-6, 4-3 SAC) won the match by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-14 while the Pioneers remained winless in league play (2-11, 0-7 SAC).

Carson-Newman finished the match with a .248 hitting percentage while also tallying 11 team blocks.  TU had 26 kills and 26 errors in its 118 total attacks for a .000 hitting percentage.

C-N's Marnie Streeter led all players with 12 kills, while Kendall Cooley had eight kills and a .368 hitting percentage.  The duo of Elena Vasquez and Taylor Rohr each distributed 17 assists and the Eagles finished with 37 on its 41 total kills.  C-N's Morgan Ballard led all players with 19 digs.

Tusculum's Gabby Gray tallied a team-high eight kills, while Lydia Collins had six kills and Cassie Born posted five kills and seven digs.  Setter Emily Lawless dished out 25 assists to go with her seven digs.  Melissa Mazur contributed 13 digs, while Jordan Zaleski had 11 digs and two service aces.

For the Eagles, Katie Parnell had a match-high seven blocks, while Erin Edwards had six blocks and five kills.

Tusculum continues its three-match home-stand this Friday night when they host undefeated and SAC front-runner Wingate for a 7 p.m. match at Pioneer Arena.
