Tusculum volleyball drops 3-0 SAC match at Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Meredith Jones recorded 12 kills, 11 digs and four blocks in leading the Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Tusculum College Friday night at the Levine Center. The Royals (15-5, 12-3 SAC) won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-20 to complete the season sweep over the Pioneers (11-13, 6-10 SAC).

Jessica Raines added 10- kills, while setter Sydney Kunz posted 30 assists and 10 digs in the victory for Queens.

The Tusculum duo of Laryssa Welch and Mariah Lewis tallied seven kills each, while Sarah Bouley tallied six kills to go along with her 13 digs and three blocks.

Tusculum setters Hallie Zumack and Shannon Murphy recorded 18 and 11 assists respectively. Tusculum libero Melissa Mazur was credited for 14 of the team's 57 digs on the evening.

The Royals posted a .187 hitting percentage as a team with 40 kills, 17 errors in 123 attacks. The Pioners tallied 34 kills with 25 hitting errors and 124 attempts for a .073 attack percentage. TC had the only service aces of the match with one each from Bouley and Sabrina Schleuger.

The two teams combined for 17 blocks for the contest as TC tallied nine, while Queens was credited with eight.

Tusculum returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they face Catawba College for a 5 p.m. match frmo Goodman Gym in Salisbury, North Carolina.
