GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College volleyball team raised close to $1,500 for breast cancer awareness announced Pioneer head coach Michael Robinson.
For a fifth straight year, the Tusculum volleyball program and its student-athletes participated in the "Dig For the Cure" program. The Pioneers raised $1,465 through its "Dig For the Cure" match with Carson-Newman College in October, along with other events and have donated the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure® to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
During the past five years, the Tusculum volleyball team has donated over $5,000 to this worthy cause.
