CATAWBA RALLIES PAST VOLLEYBALL TO WIN 3-1

Katie Luebke GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College volleyball team stormed back from a 7-3 deficit in the third set against Lenoir-Rhyne University on Saturday morning, sweeping the Bears 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action at Pioneer Arena by scores of 25-16, 26-24, and 25-21. Tusculum improves to 21-10 overall and 9-7 in conference action, while Lenoir-Rhyne falls to 14-18 and 6-10 in SAC play.

Tusculum's Katie Luebke tallied a match-high 13 kills and added 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Kelsey Hayden and Carly Swisher each added nine kills. Erika Garcia dug a team-high 20 balls while Brittney Oblinger recorded 23 assists to lead the Pioneers.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Brooke Christenbury and Lindsey Cantu each recorded a team-high 10 kills, while Hannah Stewart led the Bears with 32 assists. Elizabeth Flattery added a team-high 11 digs.

The Pioneers outhit the Bears .330 to .171 in the match, as each team tallied three service aces. Tusculum edged Lenoir-Rhyne 7-2 in team blocks.

Tusculum returns to the court on Monday when it hosts Montreat College at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Arena.
