NEWBERRY, S.C. --- Priscila
Sales recorded 13 kills and 11 digs to lead the
Newberry volleyball team to a four-set win over visiting Tusculum
in South Atlantic Conference action at Eleazer Arena. NC won by
scores of 25-18, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18.
Newberry (15-7, 7-3 SAC) avenges last month's 3-0 loss at
Tusculum, while halting the Pioneers' seven-match winning
streak.
Tusculum freshman Carly Swisher led the Pioneers
with 10 kills, four service aces and five blocks, while
Katie Luebke added nine kills and a match-high 18
assists. Erika Garcia and Gina
Coffaro finished with 17 and 10 digs, respectively. TC
also got double-figure assists by Peyton Colclough
(21) and Brittney Oblinger (13).
Newberry's Lorena Maia accounted for 11 kills and
six digs, while setter Brianna Blakely recorded 31
assists. On the night, NC finished with 13 service aces, including
three each by Maia, Sales and Kara Harris.
Tusculum returns to action on Saturday when the Pioneers face
league front-runner Wingate.
