HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University pulled out a 4-3 victory over Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Tuesday at Lincoln Memorial University.

The match was started on Monday at the Nichols Tennis Complex, but was stopped after 20 minutes during doubles play due to rain. When the match resumed, the 37th-ranked Pioneers (12-6, 6-3 SAC) came back twice to take the win from the Eagles (7-7, 5-4 SAC).

In doubles, the Eagles won both completed matches to take the 1-0 lead over the Pioneers. Tusculum went up 2-1 as Elodie Baechler beat Natasha Forrest 6-3, 6-2 at flight one and Valentina Loretz followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Summer Reeves at flight three.

Carson-Newman would even the match at 2-2 with a straight-set win at flight five, and go up 3-2 with a comeback three-set win at flight two. However, Paulina Loretz beat Sindija Manovska 6-2, 7-5 at flight four and Johanna Palacio clinched the victory by beating Julia Speiser 6-1, 6-3 at flight six.

As a result of the completion of the match with Carson-Newman, the Pioneers' match at UVA Wise that was scheduled for Tuesday was postponed. The teams are attempting to reschedule the contest for later this week around the current weather forecast.
