Win streak snapped with 4-3 loss at Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- Coker University upset 41st-ranked Tusculum University 4-3 in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Saturday afternoon at Byerly Park.

The Cobras (6-4, 2-2 SAC) won the doubles point and took the first three singles matches to clinch the victory over the Pioneers (7-4, 1-1 SAC), who had a four-match winning streak come to an end.

The Pioneers' only win in doubles came at flight two, where Ylva Frafjord Landa and Paulina Loretz defeated Angelina Krieg and Tamara Macias by a 6-4 score.

After Coker clinched the match, the Pioneers won the last three singles matches to cut into the final margin. Elodie Baechler beat Krieg 6-1, 6-1 at flight two, Loretz downed Macias 6-2, 6-1 at flight four and Johanna Palacio earned an 8-0 pro-set win at flight six over Sydnee Foster.

Tusculum will host 42nd-ranked Anderson on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
