Pioneers end March unbeaten after 7-0 win over Bluefield State

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team completed an unbeaten March with a 7-0 victory over Bluefield State College Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The 37th-ranked Pioneers (11-2) did not lose a set in singles action against the Big Blues (0-11) for their eighth consecutive victory overall and seventh without a loss during March.

Tusculum won two of the three doubles contests to earn the team point. Annie McCullough and Caitlin McCullough defeated Eva Rubio and Eva Garcia 6-0 at flight one, and Emilie Hansen teamed with Brittani Brooks for a 6-3 win over Milica Knezavic and Sophie Bygrave at flight two.

In singles, Annie McCullough beat Rubio 6-1, 6-0 at flight one and Caitlin McCullough was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Garcia at flight two. Hansen earned the clinching point by beating Knezavic 7-5, 6-2 at flight three, and Martina Marras won 6-2, 6-4 over Bygrave at flight four.

Closing out the match in singles were Brooks, who beat Milica Krnjaja 8-0 at flight five, and Javiera Ortiz who defeated Paula Sa'ez 8-5 at flight six.

The Pioneers will return to South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mars Hill.
