Renovations begin for Tusculum tennis facility

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University Department of Athletics recently began renovations to the Roger M. Nichols Tennis Complex after receiving major gifts from tennis alumnae, the late Priscilla Watts Foulk '50 and Lesley Murray Hawk '04.

Additional private donations from tennis alumni have also been received and earmarked for the project.  Tusculum College, which will transition to Tusculum University on July 1st, is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference.

Renovations include a complete resurfacing of six courts and replacement of all fencing as well as new benches and score posts for each court.

Foulk, who passed away in 2017, was an outstanding tennis talent whose national ranking enabled her to play on the men's tennis team as Tusculum did not have a women's team during her time as a student-athlete.

Hawk is regarded as the most decorated female tennis player in Tusculum history.  She was a four-time conference player of the year and finished her career with a singles record of 64-2.

"We are excited to have one of the finest facilities in the South Atlantic Conference once we are finished with the project," said Tusculum head tennis coach Adam Jackson.  "We appreciate the support of these truly great Pioneers and their lifelong commitment to the Tusculum family."

The Tusculum women's and men's tennis teams concluded the 2018 season ranked 14th and 26th, respectively, in the ITA Division II national rankings.
