21st-ranked Pioneers improve to 11-0 with 8-1 win at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. --- The 21st-ranked Tusculum women's tennis team boosted its record to 11-0 with an 8-1 victory at Anderson Thursday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action.

The Pioneers (11-0, 2-0 SAC) swept the Trojans (4-6, 0-2 SAC) in doubles, then won five of six singles matches to remain undefeated this season.

In doubles, the 20th-ranked team of Annie McCullough and Caitlin McCullough defeated Laura Dean and Jacqueline Olivia by a score of 9-7 at flight one. At flight two, Katarina Majorova and Franziska Funke won over Ivey Welborn and Victoria Wuilloud 8-4, while at flight three AFrica Mota and Amber Lackey won 8-6 against Cameron Blanchard and Delaney Wiggins.

In singles, 12th-ranked Majorova defeated Dean 6-2, 6-2 at flight one, 47th-ranked Funke rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Welborn at flight two, and 27th-ranked Annie McCullough beat Olivia 6-2, 6-0 at flight three. Caitlin McCullough won 8-4 in a pro set over Wuilloud at flight four, and Angelica De Vincenzis came away with a 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4 victory over Hannah Weaver at flight six.

The Pioneers will return to the Nichols Tennis Complex to host Young Harris on Friday at noon in a non-conference match.
