ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The South Atlantic Conference has recognized Tusculum freshman Katarina Majorova as the AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 13-19, the conference office announced Monday.
Majorova teamed with Franziska Funke for an 8-1 win at number-one doubles and picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win at number-one singles as the Pioneers won their seventh consecutive match with a 7-2 victory over Catawba on Friday.
The native of Martin, Slovakia owns an 8-3 record in singles and an 11-3 mark in doubles for the Pioneers this season, including 4-0 in conference singles and 5-0 in conference doubles. Majorova and Funke have won six consecutive doubles matches for the Pioneers and are ranked eighth in the Southeast Region by the ITA, while Majorova has won five in a row in singles action and is ranked 15th in the region.
Tusculum (10-3, 5-0 SAC), ranked ninth in the Southeast Region by the ITA, will be home Wednesday afternoon to face Carson-Newman in a SAC match beginning at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
