HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's tennis team completed a perfect three-match Spring Break trip with an 8-1 victory over Davis & Elkins College in non-conference action Wednesday morning.
The Pioneers (9-3) swept doubles from the Senators (3-5) then won five of the six singles matches to earn their sixth consecutive victory overall.
In doubles, Annie McCullough teamed with Jule Brass for an 8-1 win at flight one over Laura Fermosel and Elise Simon, Brittani Brooks and Amber Lackey defeated Haileigh Carper and Amanda Fewster 8-0 at flight two, and at flight three Lyndsey Pulliam and Africa Mota beat Ester Bolmenus and Kelsie Roby by a score of 8-4.
In single, Franziska Funke won 6-2, 6-3 at flight one over Fermosel, McCullough beat Simon 6-1, 6-0 at flight two and Lackey defeated Bolmenus 6-1, 6-3 at flight three. At flight four, Brass shut out Roby 6-0, 6-0 and at flight five Pulliam downed Carper by a 6-1, 6-0 score.
The Pioneers will return home to resume their South Atlantic Conference schedule on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Anderson at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
