Pioneers defeat LMU to improve to 4-0 in conference

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College improved to 4-0 in the South Atlantic Conference with an 8-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial University in women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Pioneers (6-3, 4-0 SAC) swept doubles from the Railsplitters (5-2, 1-2 SAC) then won five of six singles matches to remain unbeaten in league play.

In doubles, Katarina Majorova and Franziska Funke teamed up to defeat Priscilla Bulandres and Angelica Solano 8-0 at flight one, Annie McCullough and Sarah Baker beat Julia Loos and Johanna Delisse 8-3 at flight two, while at flight three Brittani Brooks and Amber Lackey bested Marta Pinol and Roksolana Prudyvus 8-5.

In singles, Majorova rallied from a set down to defeat Delisse 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at flight one, Funke defeated Pinol 6-4, 7-5 at flight two, and McCullough beat Loos 6-2, 6-1 at flight three. At flight four, Africa Mota was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Javiera Gonzalez, and Brooks won 8-0 in a pro set over Kiersten Waugh at flight six.

Tusculum will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina for three matches over Spring Break, starting Tuesday against Northwood at 8 a.m. and Palm Beach Atlantic at 5 p.m.
