Tusculum College senior Kealee Heffner has been named the
AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week in Women's
tennis for the week ending April 3, the conference office announced
Monday.
Heffner went 3-0 in conference singles matches and 4-0 in doubles
contests last week for the Pioneers, who defeated Mars Hill,
Anderson and Brevard in league action to improve to 13-3 overall
and 5-1 in SAC action.
Playing at number-one singles for the Pioneers, Heffner won two of
her matches in straight sets and used a tiebreaker to capture the
third victory, improving her season record to 8-5. In doubles,
Heffner teamed with Erin Mills for four wins at flight two,
including a 7-6 win in a match against Division I Western Carolina.
The Heffner/Mills duo lost a total of two games in their other
three wins, which improved their record as a team to 12-1 this
season.
The native of Cumming, Georgia was named first-team All-SAC in
singles last season and earns SAC Player of the Week honors for the
second time in her career. Heffner has a career record of 43-11 in
singles and 43-17 in doubles in three years at Tusculum.
The Pioneers continued their SAC schedule on Monday afternoon,
concluding a match at Coker that had been suspended due to rain on
March 26 with Tusculum ahead 3-0 following doubles play.
