NO. 31 Women's TENNIS BEATS MARS HILL 6-3

Heidi von der Lage MARS HILL, N.C. --- The No. 31 Tusculum College women's tennis team (7-0, 1-0 SAC) defeated Mars Hill College (1-3, 0-1 SAC) 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon in the opening match of its South Atlantic Conference schedule.

Caroline Crowe and Heidi von der Lage each recorded victories in both singles and doubles play, as Tusculum swept the doubles matches 3-0. Crowe and Katelyn Doss began the day with an 8-6 win, followed by 8-3 victories by the pairs of Amanda Pike/Jennifer Sparks and Kristen Keefer/von der Lage.

Tusculum and Mars Hill split 3-3 in singles action as TC's Blake Thompson registered a 6-2, 6-2 win in individual play. Von der Lage and Crowe won their matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-4, respectively.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they host Francis Marion. Play begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
