Ellenburg named All-Conference for second straight year

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University junior Kenzie Ellenburg has been named to the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer All-Conference Team, as voted upon by the league's 11 head coaches and announced Wednesday.

Ellenburg was an honorable mention selection at defender for the second consecutive season for the Pioneers, who finished the year 7-10-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the SAC standings.

Ellenburg, a graduate of Greeneville High School, started all 16 matches in which she appeared and contributed two goals, including the match-winner in the 75th minute of a 1-0 victory over Anderson on Oct. 6. She also scored the first goal of the match in a 2-1 win against Coker on Oct. 27, both at Pioneer Field. On the defensive side of the ball, Ellenburg helped the Pioneers record five shutouts during the 2019 season, while holding 10 opponents under 10 shots on goal. A three-year starter for Tusculum, Ellenburg has three goals and one assist for seven points in 50 career matches.

Tusculum has now had 73 All-Conference honorees in women's soccer since the Pioneers joined the SAC for the 1999 season.

Lenoir-Rhyne forward Aqsa Mushtaq was named SAC Offensive Player of the Year, with Defensive Player of the Year honors going to Catawba defender Katie Beck. Forward Nia Gaither of Queens was named Freshman of the Year, and Lenoir-Rhyne's Gary Higgins was honored as Coach of the Year. Lincoln Memorial received the Fair Play Award from the conference.
