Breen honored as SAC Defensive Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior goalkeeper Danielle Breen has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 13, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Breen earned a pair of shutout victories over Shaw (2-0) and regionally-ranked Wingate (1-0) as the Pioneers extended their winning streak to three matches. Breen had three saves in the non-conference victory over Shaw on Wednesday, then had a career-best 10 saves in the victory over Wingate on Sunday, as the Bulldogs outshot the Pioneers by a 26-4 margin.

Breen, a native of Sicklerville, New Jersey, has a 0.85 goals against average and a .870 save percentage for the Pioneers this season. Breen has a 3-1-0 record and three shutouts in four starts, and would be tied for the SAC lead in save percentage and rank fourth in goals against average if she met the qualifying standard of playing 33 percent of the team's minutes in goal.

The Pioneers (6-6-0 overall, 2-3-0 SAC) host Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and visit Catawba on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
