WINGATE, N.C. --- Wingate University scored goals on either side of halftime to defeat Tusculum University 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (4-1-1, 2-0-0 SAC) received goals from Sophie Jendrzejczyk two minutes before intermission and from Taylor Krakower 2 1/2 minutes into the second half and finished with a 23-7 advantage in shots over the Pioneers (3-3-1, 1-1-0 SAC).

Wingate controlled the play early, taking 10 of the first 12 shot attempts and forcing Tusculum keeper Bailey Bosler to make five saves. The Bulldogs broke through with exactly two minutes to go in the half, as a low cross from Colleen Zickert was tapped in by Jendrzejczyk for her second goal of the season.

The Bulldogs quickly pushed their advantage to 2-0 with 2:27 gone in the second half as Krakower delivered her first goal of the season to the bottom right corner, assisted by Gabby Fleischli.

The Pioneers put their first shot on goal in the 82nd minute as Abbey Frail came up with a save on a shot by Tusculum's Elise Gallo, followed a minute later by a stop on the Pioneers' Lia Clark. Wingate continued its offensive pressure late in the match, as Bosler made three more saves in the final eight minutes.

Bosler finished the match with 12 saves for the Pioneers, tied for the eighth-most in a match in program history and the most since Marissa Williams had 14 saves against Nova Southeastern on Sept. 9, 2011. Frail had two saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Bulldogs.

In addition to their 23-7 shot advantage, Wingate had a 4-0 edge in corner kicks and were called for nine fouls to three by the Pioneers.

Tusculum will return to action on Wednesday night when Lenoir-Rhyne visits Pioneer Field for a 7 p.n. SAC match. The contest was originally scheduled for Sept. 16, but was postponed due to travel concerns from the arrival of Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.
