Thornber selected to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Tusculum women's soccer student-athlete Carlie Thornber has been selected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Scholar All-America Team, the organization has announced.

Thornber was selected to the third team and is one of six South Atlantic Conference student-athletes to be named to the prestigious squad, which recognizes individuals who have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade-point average, start more than 50 percent of all games and have at least junior academic standing.

Thornber, a senior from Oshawa, Ontario, is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American® with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average as a pre-medicine major. Thornber is a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection, including second-team honors this season after starting all 18 matches and registering one goal and two assists for four points.

The United Soccer Coaches previously honored Thornber with a berth on the Division II All-Southeast Region second team. A four-year starter for the Pioneers, Thornber finished her career with nine goals and two assists for 20 points in 71 career matches (all starts). She is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List, President's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Thornber will receive her award at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Luncheon, which will be held January 20 in Philadelphia as part of the 71st annual United Soccer Coaches Convention.
