Pioneers stay seventh in United Soccer Coaches regional rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The Tusculum women's soccer team remains seventh in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division II Southeast Region rankings, through games of Sept. 24.

The Pioneers (5-2-0) lost on the road to Queens 2-0 last Wednesday afternoon, then defeated Anderson 2-0 at home on Saturday to boost their South Atlantic Conference record to 3-1-0. Tusculum is one of five SAC teams in this week's Southeast Region rankings, with Carson-Newman second, Wingate sixth, Queens eighth and Lenoir-Rhyne ninth.

Flagler moved into the top spot in the Southeast Region this week, climbing three spots after defeating Lander and Nova Southeastern. Columbus State, which had been first in the region and second in Division II, slipped to fifth in the region and 15th overall after a 3-2 loss to North Georgia last Wednesday. Limestone is ranked third, followed by North Georgia in fourth, with Belmont Abbey falling from fifth to 10th.

The United Soccer Coaches College Rankings are an indicator of week-to-week status of qualified programs and in no way should be used as a guide or indicator of eligibility for selection to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.

Tusculum plays its only match of the week on Saturday at Newberry, starting at 3:30 p.m.
