DeHart named AstroTurf SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum senior forward Payton DeHart has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 10, the league office announced Monday.

In the Pioneers' only action of the week, DeHart scored two goals, including the match-winner with 7:28 left in the second half, as Tusculum defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 2-1 in non-conference women's soccer action last Wednesday night at Pioneer Field.

Her first goal came as she collected a loose ball in the box and scored at 11:44 to give Tusculum a 1-0 lead. The second goal from DeHart was the result of a shot off the post that caromed to her in the box, and the Nixa, Missouri native was able to trickle the ball over the line for the match-winner at 82:32.

The goals were the first two of the season for DeHart, giving her 10 career goals in 29 starts including four game-winning tallies. The win boosted the Pioneers' record to 2-1-0 heading into their conference opener at home against Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Pioneer Field.

DeHart shared the award with Wingate's Taylor Leyble, who also had two goals in the Bulldogs' 2-1 overtime victory over Lander on Saturday.
