Pioneers remain seventh in NSCAA regional poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- For the second consecutive week, the Tusculum College women's soccer team is ranked seventh in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Southeast Region poll, through games of Oct. 17.

The Pioneers (9-2-2) extended their streak of consecutive shutouts to six with victories over Coker (2-0) and Mars Hill (1-0) last week. Tusculum is the only unbeaten team in the South Atlantic Conference, leading the league by four points with a 7-0-1 conference record.

The top three teams are unchanged in this week's rankings, with Columbus State, North Georgia and Limestone holding down the first three positions in the poll. Armstrong State and Lenoir-Rhyne each moved up a spot to fourth and fifth, respectively, as Carson-Newman slipped from fourth to sixth. Following Tusculum in the rankings is UNC Pembroke in eighth, Belmont Abbey in ninth and poll newcomer Anderson in 10th.

Tusculum faces off with a regionally-ranked opponent on Wednesday when the Pioneers travel to Jefferson City to face Carson-Newman. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
