Miriah Martin named AstroTurf SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College goalkeeper Miriah Martin has been named the Astro Turf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 16, the conference office announced Monday.

Martin extended her streak of consecutive shutouts to a school-record six in a row by earning wins over Coker and Mars Hill last week as the Pioneers remained atop the SAC standings. Martin had three saves in the Pioneers' 2-0 victory at Coker on Wednesday, and followed up with three more saves in a 1-0 victory over Mars Hill on Friday.

The senior from Roanoke, Va. has not allowed a goal in 595 minutes dating back one month, wth a total of 18 saves during her streak of consecutive shutouts. Martin's seven shutouts this season are a career high and are tied for fourth on the program's single-season list, while her 15 career clean sheets are fourth-best in school history. Martin ranks second in the SAC with a 0.59 goals against average and third in save percentage at .846.

The Pioneers (9-2-2 overall, 7-0-1 SAC) are four points clear in the SAC standings with all contenders having three matches remaining. Tusculum will be on the road Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m. for a key conference matchup at local rival Carson-Newman.
