Cheyenne Upton commits to Tusculum Women's soccer

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Cheyenne Upton will attend Tusculum College and play soccer for the Pioneers announced TC women's coach Mike Joy.

Upton, a native of Greeneville, Tenn., is a graduate of South Greene High School where she has numerous accolades during her prep career. She played her first two prep seasons on the South Greene boys team, before playing her final season at West Greene High School. She led the Buffaloes with 40 goals and eight assists while earning All-State recognition and was named the TSSAA District Offensive Player of the Year.

"We are excited to have Cheyenne at Tusculum as she will be an outstanding addition to our women's soccer program," said Coach Joy. "We expect her to compete for a position right away as she is a tremendous athlete and has the focus and desire to do anything she sets her mind to. She is a tremendous competitor."

The was also a four-year standout on the South Greene girls' basketball team, earning All-County honors her senior year where she led the Rebels in scoring averaging 12.6 points per game. She was also named to the Landair Ladies Classic All-Tournament Team, TSSAA District All-Tournament Team and Region All-Tournament Team.

She earned All-State recognition with the West Greene track and field team, finishing fifth in the pentathlon and completed for the state title in the 300 meter hurdles and the 4x800 meter relay team.

She also played her club soccer career with the Greeneville Galaxy.

Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference. Tusculum, the oldest college in the State of Tennessee, sponsors 16 intercollegiate sports, including women's lacrosse, which will be competing in its first season during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Tusculum, the 28th oldest college in the nation, is a liberal arts institution committed to providing a liberal arts education in a Judeo-Christian and civic arts environment, with pathways for career preparation, personal development and civic engagement. Approximately twenty-one hundred students are enrolled on the main campus in Greeneville and three off-site locations in East Tennessee. The academic programs for both traditional-aged students and working adults served through the Graduate and Professional Studies program are delivered using focused calendars whereby students enroll in one course at a time.
