Box score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. ---

Taylor Lewis scored both goals in Tusculum College's 2-0 victory over Carson-Newman University in a South Atlantic Conference Women's soccer match Wednesday evening at Pioneer Field.

Lewis scored in the ninth and 55th minutes and Marissa Williams had two saves for her ninth shutout of the season for the Pioneers (8-6-3, 6-2-2 SAC), who won their third straight match and posted their sixth consecutive home shutout.

Tusculum took just six shots in the match, but Lewis made both of hers count as she increased her team-leading goal total to five with the two-goal performance. Meanwhile, the Pioneer defense limited the Eagles (6-6-3, 4-4-2 SAC) to just seven shot attempts, three coming in the final two minutes in a last-ditch effort to avoid the whitewash.

The Pioneers converted the first shot of the match at 8:56 as Lewis headed home a corner kick by Amy Morford to give Tusculum a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers carried the lead to halftime as the Eagles could muster just two shot attempts in the opening half.

Lewis doubled the Tusculum lead at 54:57 as she put home the rebound of a shot by Katie Chadwick following a cross from Monica Perez. From there, the Pioneer defense preserved the lead as they did not allow the Eagles to put a shot on goal in the second half.

Tiarna McKenna made three saves in goal for the Eagles, who had a four-match unbeaten streak come to an end with the loss (three wins, one tie).

Tusculum will conclude its regular season on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Newberry. The Pioneers will open the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with a quarterfinal match against an opponent to be determined.
