The Tusculum College Women's soccer team is ranked seventh in
this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA)/Continental Tire Division II Southeast Region poll, which
was released Tuesday.
The Pioneers (4-3-2) defeated Lees-McRae 3-0 and Wingate 1-0 to
extend their unbeaten streak to four matches (three wins, one tie)
and climb into the rankings for the first time this season.
Tusculum has not allowed a goal in its last 386 minutes, 8 seconds
of action with four shutouts over that span.
Tusculum is 2-0-1 in the South Atlantic Conference, good for a tie
for third place in the SAC standings, and is the only team in the
league to have yet to allow a goal in conference matches.
North Georgia (6-1-0) is atop this week's NSCAA regional rankings,
followed by Columbus State (4-3-0) and Armstrong State (3-1-2).
Lenoir-Rhyne (4-2-1) is the highest-ranked SAC school in fourth
place, followed by Belmont Abbey (7-1-0), Lander (6-0-0) and
Tusculum. Rounding out the survey are Wingate (5-1-3) in eighth,
Queens (6-1-2) in ninth, and Lincoln Memorial (4-2-1) and Clayton
State (5-3-1) tied for tenth.
The NSCAA/Continental Tire College Rankings are an indicator of
week-to-week status of qualified programs and in no way should be
used as a guide or indicator of eligibility for NCAA championship
selection.
The Pioneers are off until Sunday when they host Anderson in a SAC
matchup at Pioneer Field, starting at 1 p.m.
