The Tusculum College Women's soccer team opened their South
Atlantic Conference schedule Wednesday afternoon with a 0-0 tie at
Queens University of Charlotte.
The Pioneers (1-3-2 overall, 0-0-1 SAC) and Royals (4-1-1, 0-0-1
SAC) were meeting for the first time as conference opponents, but
neither team could find the back of the net after 110 minutes of
play.
The best scoring chance of regulation play came at the 17:06 mark
of the first half, when Tusculum keeper Marissa Williams made her
second save of a penalty kick this season by thwarting Queens'
Caitlyn Rodriguez. It was the second time this season that Williams
saved a penalty kick in a scoreless tie, having done so in a 0-0
deadlock with California (Pa.) in the season opener on Sept. 7.
Williams finished the match with six saves, while Jessyca Young
made five stops between the pipes for the Royals.
The Pioneers will be back in action Saturday at noon with a SAC
match at Mars Hill.
