The Tusculum College Women's soccer program will be adding three
members to its "Wall of Fame" during halftime of Saturday's match
against Catawba College at Pioneer Field, which begins at 5
p.m.
Joining the Wall of Fame are Elaine Knudsen (2001-04), Kelly Barron
(2005-08) and Courtney Turner (2007-10), whose teams combined for
three South Atlantic Conference championships, three SAC Tournament
titles and five NCAA Division II tournament appearances during
their years with the Pioneers.
Knudsen, a native of Amelia, Ohio, was an All-Region and an All-SAC
midfielder for the Pioneers, earning NSCAA third-team All-Region
honors in 2003 and claiming second-team All-SAC honors in both 2003
and 2004. Knudsen finished her career with 16 goals and 14 assists
for 46 points in 80 matches, including six goals as a sophomore in
2002 and seven in her senior season of 2004. Knudsen was also named
to the SAC All-Tournament team in 2002.
Barron, a native of Cincinnati, was a two-time All-Region and a
two-time All-SAC forward for the Pioneers, having claimed
first-team NSCAA All-Region honors in 2006 and second-team
Daktronics All-Region accolades in 2008. Barron was also named
second-team All-SAC in both 2006 and 2008. She ranks fifth in
program history in both goals (32) and points (77), and scored a
career-high 14 goals in 2008. Barron's biggest goal came in the
2006 Southeast Region final at Carson-Newman, when she scored in
double overtime to send Tusculum to the Elite Eight for the first
time in program history.
Turner, a native of Cocoa Beach, Fla., was a two-time NSCAA
All-American, a three-time All-Region selection and one of two
Pioneers to earn All-SAC honors in all four years of her career. A
midfielder, she was a third-team All-America honoree in 2007 and a
second-team selection in 2009, and was twice a Daktronics
first-team All-Region choice. Turner was named first-team All-SAC
in 2007 and 2009 and was a second-team pick in 2008 and 2010.
Turner, who started all 84 matches of her Tusculum career without
missing a contest, accumulated 14 goals and 25 assists for 53
points as a Pioneer and ranks fifth in program history in career
assists.
Tusculum enters Saturday's match with Catawba with a 10-1-2 overall
record and a 5-0-1 SAC mark that is good for second place in the
league behind Lenoir-Rhyne (6-0-0). The Pioneers are unbeaten in
their last 11 matches (9 wins, 2 ties), a streak that is tied for
the third-longest in program history and the longest since opening
the 2006 season with an 11-0-3 record.
