Tusculum drops 1-0 double-overtime heartbreaker at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. --- Allie Waters scored on a penalty kick with 2:33 left in the second overtime period as Anderson University defeated Tusculum College 1-0 in a South Atlantic Conference Women's soccer match Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans (8-6-0, 5-2-0 SAC) took just four shots in the contest, but took advantage of their final chance as Waters buried the game-winner late in the second extra period.

The Pioneers (8-5-1, 3-2-0 SAC) finished with nine shots in the match, but their final attempt came with 12:20 left in regulation off the foot of Nikki Arthur.

In addition to their 9-4 advantage in the shot department, the Pioneers had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Tusculum was also called for offsides five times to one for Anderson. Marissa Williams finished with one save in goal for the Pioneers, while Trojan keeper Kaitlyn Neipp came up with seven stops.

Tusculum returns home to face Lincoln Memorial University Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
