Tusculum College freshman goalkeeper Marissa Williams was named
the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for
the week ending Oct. 8, the SAC office announced Tuesday.
Williams earned a pair of victories as the Pioneers extended their
winning streak to five matches with victories over Mars Hill (2-1)
and King (1-0). Williams' shutout of King was her fifth clean sheet
in 10 starts this season.
The Pioneers are off to a 3-0 start in SAC play as Williams has
allowed a total of one goal in the Pioneers' three league matches
through Monday. Over her last six matches, which includes the
Pioneers' five-match winning streak, Williams has allowed a total
of two goals while recording four shutouts.
The Canton, Mich. native entered the week with an 8-2 record with a
0.99 goals against average and an .861 save percentage in 10
matches, spanning 912 minutes, 20 seconds of playing time.
Following Tuesday's SAC match at Wingate, the Pioneers close out
their week with road matches against Young Harris on Thursday and
Anderson on Saturday.
