Tusculum College sophomore forward Tramicka James and junior
forward Patience Leonard remain among the NCAA Division II
statistical leaders in several offensive categories, through games
of October 24.
James has moved up to fifth in goals per game at exactly 1.00,
climbed to eighth in total goals with 15, risen to 15th in points
per game at 2.2 and jumped to 17th in total points with 33. Leonard
is 23rd in total assists with eight and her 0.53 assists per match
is good for 25th overall.
James, a native of Wilson, N.C., concluded last week with a streak
of six consecutive games with a goal, during which she increased
her season goal total from three to 15. She has recorded just the
11th 15-goal season in program history and is just the eighth
different Pioneer to score 15 or more goals in a single season.
Leonard leads the Pioneers in assists and is poised to crack the
top 10 on the program's single-season assist list. The Greeneville
native has had six different matches this year in which she has
recorded one assist, including three two-assist contests.
In the team rankings, the Pioneers slipped one spot to 11th overall
in Division II in scoring offense out of 230 teams at 2.93 goals
per game, on the strength of 44 goals through 15 matches.
Tusculum (8-7-1 overall, 3-4-1 South Atlantic Conference) close out
their regular season Saturday evening at 6 p.m. hosting
Lenoir-Rhyne at Pioneer Field in an important SAC battle. The
Pioneers have already clinched a SAC playoff spot, but can finish
anywhere from fourth to eighth in the standings based on results
from elsewhere in the SAC.
