Cusano honored as SAC Offensive Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior midfielder Juliette Cusano has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in women's lacrosse for the week ending Feb. 23, the SAC office announced Monday.

Cusano scored 11 goals in two matches for the Pioneers, who defeated NAIA 10th-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan 20-6 on Monday and beat Young Harris 16-15 on Sunday afternoon. Cusano had a team-high six goals and an assist against Tennessee Wesleyan and scored five times against Young Harris, including the winning goal with 1:25 left in the second half as the Pioneers overcame a three-goal deficit.

The Davie, Florida native had a season-high seven draw controls against Young Harris, after recording three ground balls and three caused turnovers in the win over Tennessee Wesleyan. She leads the team with 13 goals and is tied for the team lead with 14 points, while leading the Pioneers with seven caused turnovers.

Cusano ranks second in program history with 127 career goals, 12 shy of the record of 139 set by Savannah Elliott from 2015-18, and is third all-time with 146 points as a Pioneer. Cusano is also second all-time at Tusculum with 178 draw controls, behind only Madison Malone who had 222 from 2015-18, while her 49 career caused turnovers ranked second only to Malone's 105.

The Pioneers (2-1) will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at home against Belmont Abbey, starting at 5 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
